Guus Hiddink on incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte: ‘He is fully equipped to succeed in the Premier League’

Guus Hiddink believes incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is well equipped to handle the pressure of working in the Premier League.

Conte was announced as the club's permanent successor to Jose Mourinho on Monday, with the Italian due to take charge at Stamford Bridge after fulfilling his national team commitments at Euro 2016.

Hiddink, Chelsea's interim manager, revealed he held a short meeting with Conte at the club's training ground this week and thinks the 46-year-old possesses all the right ingredients to succeed in England.

"It's the choice of the club and he made a good spell in Juventus, getting the title in Italy," said Hiddink.

"It's always good because this club is always keen to play for titles.

"Of course it's always a big job regardless of the circumstances Chelsea has been in this year. But he is equipped and is able to get used to the pressure of working in big clubs and win titles.

"I had a short meeting with him about football, about Italy and about the past of this club. I talked about the work we have done here in the past months and that was it."
