Gael Clichy: France defender confirms he is leaving Manchester City when his contract expires in the summer

Gael Clichy has confirmed he will NOT be a Manchester CIty player next season.

The France defender, who joined City in the summer of 2011, is out of contract at the end of the 2016/17 season and will not be signing a new deal with the Etihad Stadium club.

When asked at a question and answer session if he would be playing with Joe Hart next season, the 31-year-old said: "It's hard. I'm not sure whether or not Joe will be here next season, and I won't be here next season."

Clichy will leave Pep Guardiola's side as a double Premier League winner, having made 203 appearances since moving to Manchester from Arsenal.

His departure follows that of long-serving right-back Pablo Zabaleta, whose deal was also due to expire this summer.

Other players whose contracts are coming to an end include Yaya Toure, Jesus Navas, Bacary Sagna, Willy Caballero. The club are yet to indicate whether new deals will be offered.

There is also uncertainty over the future of some players out on loan including Hart, Samir Nasri, Eliaquim Mangala and Wilfried Bony.
