Former Arsenal star insists John Terry should NOT be on club’s radar, telling talkSPORT: ‘He can’t play at the very top any more’
Arsenal should NOT make a move for John Terry in the summer, Stewart Robson has told talkSPORT.
Terry will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season having decided to leave Chelsea after more than two decades with the club.
The 36-year-old has won 14 major honours at Stamford Bridge and it has been suggested by Harry Redknapp that his experience could benefit Arsenal - with Arsene Wenger's squad widely considered to be lacking leadership.
But former Gunners star Robson insists the ex-England captain is no longer up to the level required to play for a top club.
"He would have to move down [a level] slightly," he insisted, speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
"I don't think he is the top player he was. He has been a brilliant player for Chelsea, he was a brilliant player for England, but he lacks mobility now.
"Players in the Premier League need to be mobile - they can't be static.
"He can't play in a three at the back and I'm not sure he can play in a two now. He needs too much protection.
"An excellent player, but I think he probably knows he can't play at the very top any more."
