Arsenal FC news: Mikael Silvestre tells talkSPORT Alexandre Lacazette would be an ideal signing for Gunners

Alexandre Lacazette would be a great addition to the Arsenal squad, Mikael Silvestre has told talkSPORT.

Lyon are willing to sell their star forward this summer if they receive an offer in excess of €50million (£44million) and the Gunners are keen on a doing a deal.

The 26-year-old has been in outstanding form for the French club over the past four seasons, firing 91 league goals, and Silvestre reckons he would be a big hit in north London.

The former Arsenal, Manchester United and France star told talkSPORT of his fellow countryman: "He is very active, he can play both sides, technically he is very gifted and he has been scoring 25, 30 goals for the last four years in the French league so he is a proven goalscorer.

"In terms of adaptability to Arsenal's style, he has all the qualities. He is very intelligent, he can make up the play with Ozil, with Ramsey, with Welbeck.

"I think he would be a great addition for Arsenal. And he speaks French!"

With the future of Alexis Sanchez in doubt, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is also reportedly weighing up a swoop for another French forward - Manchester United's Anthony Martial.

Martial, who joined United for £36m in 2015, struggled to impress under Jose Mourinho last season and it has been suggested he could look to move on this summer.

But Silvestre, who spent nine years at Old Trafford, hopes the 21-year-old stays put.

"It's been difficult for him," he said.

"Arsene could be interested, but United needs that type of striker. He should stick around."
