Tottenham have turned down an offer from Turkish club Trabzonspor to take Moussa Sissoko on a season-long loan, according to reports in France.

France Football claims Spurs will not consider any loan offers for Sissoko as they want to sell the player.

The report suggests Trabzonspor had been willing to pay the Frenchman’s £95,000-a-week wages in full, but Daniel Levy pulled the plug on the potential deal.

Sissoko joined Tottenham from Newcastle on deadline day last summer for £30 million.

The midfielder endured a difficult first season at White Hart Lane, failing to score a single goal as he struggled to nail down a place in the starting line-up.

After impressing in a pre-season friendly win over Juventus earlier this month, Sissoko was handed a start against Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday.

He did fine but not enough to get his doubters on-side. We have him a six out of 10 in our player ratings.

I don’t think any club will pay close to the £30m Spurs want to recoup for Sissoko, so a loan deal might be the only possibility. Alternatively, there’s a good chance he’ll stay.
