MARSEILLE boss Rudi Garcia has slammed Patrice Evra for his Cantona-style kick on a fan.
The former Manchester United defender lashed out at a supporter after a heated exchange of words BEFORE the Europa League clash against Vitoria Guimaraes.
Evra then swung a leg towards the crowd starting a mass melee and Garcia acknowledged a player of the Frenchman's experience should have kept his cool.
Garcia told BeIn Sports: "Pat has experience and he must not react, it's obvious.
"Patrice is a more than experienced player and we cannot respond to insults so low and so incredible because they come from one of our supporters."
Garcia also blamed the victim of Evra's karate kick, claiming he is not a true fan of the club after continuously insulting their own players.
On the fan, Garcia said: "He is not a supporter of OM, because you cannot insult your own players, you have to be behind everyone."
Video from the incident appears to show Evra scale the advertising and barriers to get to the fan in the Estadio D Afonso Henriques in Guimaraes.
French newspaper L'Equipe are claiming it could be Evra's last ever act in a Marseille shirt.
Evra won five Premier League titles and the Champions League during his eight-year spell at Old Trafford, but has made two appearances for Marseille this season.
Former France boss Raymond Domenech described the action as a “suicide” to L’Equipe TV.
Domenech, who coached Evra for the national team, added: “He knows it’s over and he will not play anymore."
Evra has come under-fire from supporters and former players for his lacklustre performances and antics off the pitch.
