Watford transfer news: Marco Silva chasing SC Telstar goalkeeper Rody De Boer after impressing scouts
Hornets stopper Heurelho Gomes, formerly of Tottenham, turns 37 next month and the Prem side are looking for his understudy
WATFORD are closing in on a move for Dutch goalkeeping prodigy Rody De Boer.
The Holland Under-20 international has excelled this season for SC Telstar.
And he has inspired the second-tier club to their best campaign in recent memory.
Hornets spies have made regular checks on the 20-year-old in recent months, according to De Telegraaf.
And that has provided boss Marco Silva with a series of glowing reports.
De Boer was born in Holland's capital The Hague, and came through the ranks at local Eredivisie club ADO Den Haag.
The 6ft 3ins keeper joined Ijmuiden-based Telstar last summer.
He has goalkeeping in his blood. Dad Leo, 51, played between the sticks for AZ Alkmaar as well as Telstar.

De Boer Jr is under contract with the White Lions until 2019.
Vicarage Road chief Silva is considering him as an understudy to Heurelho Gomes.
