Everton target Bayern Munich ace Juan Bernat to sure-up their defence

EVERTON are considering a move for out of favour Bayern Munich defender Juan Bernat to fill in for injured Left-back Leighton Baines.

The Liverpool Echo suggest Sam Allardyce is desperate to replace the injured Leighton Baines seeing the Bayern defender as an ideal choice.

The left-back joined the German champions for £8million from Spanish side Valencia and has yet to nail down a starting place.

Cuco Martina has struggled to fill in for Baines on the left side of Everton's defence this term and is uncomfortable playing in the role.

Bernat is behind David Alaba for the sides starting berth and see's a move away from the club as his only chance to make the Spanish world cup squad.

Everton face competition for the 24-year-old from Turkish giants Galatasaray who hope to play him in an attacking role.

However  funds are still available to strengthen the team and get the club back on track.

Everton have made a miraculous recovery since the appointment of Sam Allardyce, escaping the relegation battle that they faced.

While the Toffies sit in a much improved Ninth place they have lost four straight games in all competitions, only scoring two in their last six.

Allardyce will hope to get the deal for Bernat done quickly so he become settled quickly with the teams other new signings.
