Star striker led the way at Wembley with Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen also on the scoresheet

HARRY KANE grabbed yet another double to make it 28 this season – while overtaking Teddy Sheringham’s record of 97 Premier League goals for Tottenham.
Hardly for the first time, Heung-Min Son delivered yet another outstanding performance while keeping up a goal record which is none too shabby, either.
Inexplicably, Son is one of the most under-rated stars in English football and even at Spurs, he is not one of the club’s A-listers, lagging behind Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and keeper Hugo Lloris.
Son always seem to be off the radar not that he ever appears to be vying for too much attention.
Yet Son scored the first of a straightforward win over hopeless Everton, had a hand in two of the others and also hit the post.
It was a rotten afternoon for Sam Allardyce at the stadium which should have been his home – but he failed to last long enough as England manager to manage at Wembley.
Son scored the opener to help Maurcio Pochettino’s side on their way to a comfortable win which means that second place no longer looks out of reach.
This was Son’s 40th goal in 117 appearances for Spurs which is outstanding. This means he is scoring a goal in less than every three games – the benchmark for all top strikers.
Cenk Tosun had a forgettable debut for Everton but if he is worth £27million – after scoring goals in Turkey – you have to wonder how much Son is worth. At least £60m, surely.
When Spurs finally leave Wembley, they will not remember it too fondly but Son is certainly one player who will miss it.
There are not many thing Kane has failed to do for Spurs in terms of scoring – but one thing is score in five successive Premier League home games.
The only other player to have done that is Jermain Defoe until yesterday.
It was actually six home games as Son scored against Apoel Nicosia before finding the net against Stoke, Brighton, Southampton and West Ham and then, the Allardyce's sorry lot.
Spurs got their tactics spot on to avoid being frustrated by Everton because this game threatened to be quite tedious – although it proved to be not the case.
Kane worked hard, dropping deep to bring centre-backs Phil Jagielka and Mason Holgate out of position and that created space for Pochettino’s players to run into.
Spurs were certainly on the front foot throughout against an Everton side who have now suffered four successive defeats.
Apart from Wayne Rooney having a header ruled out for offside, at no stage did they ever look capable of doing something.
Son sent a glancing header over the bar from Eriksen’s free-kick but he did not have to wait too long for his 11th goal of the season.
Eriksen played the killer a pass, an absolutely brilliant ball out wide to Serge Aurier and he took one touch before delivered what appeared to be a shot. Although it was off target, it was turned in expertly by Son.
The second goal was all down to some outrageous skill by Son who caused Everton massive problems with his hard work and pace.
Following a pass from Eric Dier, Son delivered an outstanding drag back to bamboozle Jonjoe Kenny. Holgate backed off and Son’s shot was turned in by Kane.
Former Spurs winger Aaron Lennon enjoyed an outstanding reception from the home crowd when replacing Yannick Bolasie.
Yet it was Son causing the mayhem and he had another effort hit the woodwork.
Kane then made it 3-0, getting in behind Holgate to stab in a pass from Dier, who will not have many easier days in midfield.
Tosun was put out of his misery just after the hour and was replaced by Dominc Calvert-Lewin yet this was an extremely unsatisfactory match for Allardyce.
Eriksen made it 40- with a fine finish, and again Son was involved with a pass to Alli, who has not been playing well this season.
Yet the England international Alli delivered the brilliant flick and the Danish international finished calmly.
It capped an encouraging week for Spurs fans with chairman Daniel having insisted they will not sell the club’s top stars befor emoving to their shiny new ground.
That means Kane will not be leaving and Spurs will fend off bids for the likes of Alli, Eriksen, Danny Rosem Toby Alderweireld etc.
But equally, that means Son will not be going anywhere – and the next thing Tottenham need to do is give him a whacking new contract.
