WEST HAM have named just six substitutes for their Premier League encounter with Huddersfield.

The Hammers are enduring a mini injury crisis with seven players currently sidelined including Andy Carroll and Winston Reid.

But supporters believe David Moyes' decision to name one player short of the 18 allowed is to send a statement to the board over transfer deals.

Struggling West Ham have yet to make a January addition despite the club sitting just two points above the bottom three.

Moyes, 54, could have opted to give a youth player the experience of sitting amongst the senior squad on match-day.

And one fan shared his frustration on Twitter claiming there is "no excuse" for the decision.

He wrote: "There's absolutely no excuse for a Premier League team to be naming 6 subs. Stick someone from the academy if you at least. Also gives the youth players no hope if the manager rather take 6 subs than give a youngster a go."

Another supporter wrote: "Is Moyes trying to make a point to the Board by only naming 6 subs?"

Journalist Sam Inkersole added: "Getting loads of tweets about the six subs and if Moyes is trying to prove a point to the West Ham board."
