Liverpool and Tottenham eyeing swoop for Norwich’s England Under-21 ace James Maddison

Highly-rated midfielder being chased by Premier League clubs while promotion favourites Wolves have also shown an interest on striking a deal with the Canaries

LIVERPOOL and Tottenham are both in the hunt for Norwich midfielder James Maddison.

The two Premier League clubs have sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old in action after a series of impressive displays in the Championship.

Maddison has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Norwich, scoring six goals in the league and also credited with creating a further five.

And the Mirror claim that has seen Liverpool and Spurs make their interest known in the highly-rated attacking midfielder.

Norwich have already seen one of their other midfielders picked off by a top flight club this month after Alex Pritchard completed an £11million move to Huddersfield.

And they will be desperate to avoid seeing a second player on the way out before the transfer window closes at the end of January.

And though both top flight clubs are aware of the competition for his services, it is claimed they will hold off from making any bid until the summer.

If they do it is expected there will be more Premier League sides interested in Maddison, with Southampton another who have been monitoring his progress.

And the Express and Star have revealed promotion chasing Wolves have also highlighted the former Coventry youngster as one to chase in the summer.

Wolves are expected to be building a squad for their return to the Premier League, with the club currently 12 points clear at the top of the Championship.

And they have seen enough of Maddison in action this season to believe he is a player capable of making the step up to the top flight.

If they do make a move, it will be two years after they passed up the opportunity to sign the midfielder on the cheap when he was made available by cash-strapped Coventry.
