Ross Barkley agent ‘paid £7m’ on top of £15m transfer fee that took midfielder from Everton to Chelsea

Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson has contacted police over deal and 'whether any fraud has taken place'

CHELSEA reportedly paid a £7million fee to the agent that brokered Ross Barkley's move to Chelsea.

The England midfielder left Everton on Friday and sealed a £15m switch to Stamford Bridge.

It came just five months after he pulled out of a move on deadline day - thought to have been worth £35m to the Toffees.

With Barkley, 24, now signing a contract worth £20m less to the Toffees, Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson has contacted police over "whether any fraud has taken place."

The Times report that Wasserman are due a fee worth almost half of what Everton received for a player who had been on their books since the age of 11.

If true, it adds to the sense that the Merseyside club have been left shortchanged over the deal.

Writing on his Twitter account, Anderson said: "I will be writing to .@premierleague & .@FA calling for investigation into the circumstances around the transfer of Ross Barkley between Everton and Chelsea.

He is recovering from a lengthy spell out with a hamstring injury and is yet to play this season.
