Carlos Tevez set to re-join Boca Juniors after flopping in £634,000-a-week deal at Shanghai Shenhua

Former Manchester United and City star moved to Far East early last year, but failed to settle in and terminated deal

CARLOS TEVEZ looks set to make an emotional return to Boca Juniors after reaching an agreement to end his Chinese nightmare.

The Argentine became one of the highest-paid players in football history when he signed a £634,000-a-week deal with Shanghai Shenhua 12 months ago.

However, he failed to settle in the Far East and almost from his arrival, hinted he wanted to return.

Argentinian daily Ole claim a return to Boca Juniors could now be on the cards.

Due to his incredible wages and the fee it would command to bring him to Boca Juniors, his former club had made it clear they were not willing to deal directly with Shenhua.

Boca president Daniel Angelici had previously stated: "When the player is free, we will talk to him."

And the time is now — the day after Tevez's representatives met with Shenhua lawyers, who agreed to his release.

It is understood Boca will offer him a two-year contract, and there is optimism a deal can be reached before the weekend.

This will be his second spell with the Argentinian capital-side, having started with the club, before joining Corinthians in 2006.

And, following a spell in Europe with West Ham, Manchester United, Man City and Juventus, he returned "home" — before leaving in 2016 for the riches of the Chinese Super League.
