Manchester United top of the Premier League, Chelsea down in seventh and Newcastle dead-last… it’s the Boxing Day league table
Since the start of the 1992-93 season, no team has picked up more league points on December 26 than the Old Trafford club
FESTIVE football is nearly upon us, with FOUR rounds of fixtures set to start in just 13 days this weekend.
But of course, the real jewel in the crown is the eight-game strong Boxing Day schedule.
As it is every year, whichever day it falls on, teams will look to work off their Christmas dinner on the pitch.
With the big day just around the corner, we take a look at which club fares historically the best on December 26... and it's good news for Manchester United, according to LeoVegas.
The Red Devils boast far and away the best Boxing Day record, having picked up 65 points since the start of the 1992-93 season.
Arsenal come in second with 53 points, while Liverpool and Tottenham complete the top four on 46 points apiece.
Manchester City (41 points) come in fifth, with Brighton level on points with Chelsea, Huddersfield and Swansea on 39 points in league matches since December 1992.
However, it's bad news for Newcastle, who sit dead-last, miles behind the competition on just 17 festive points.
