MANCHESTER UNITED were forced to land in Cardiff instead of Bristol after heavy fog meant their flight had to be diverted.

But the adverse weather conditions mean United's private jet has had to cross the Severn to land in the Welsh capital.
Weather reports indicate the fog is set to lift - but not until 9pm, when rain will take over.
SunSport showed you the United squad boarding their plane earlier today.
But they will now have to travel the final 55 miles of their journey in a bus.

That could prove a nightmare during rush hour and with the busy Christmas traffic on the roads.
It is believed the plane landed on time.
However, before doing so, it had to circle Bristol airport several times before venturing south and eventually landing in Cardiff.
It was reported that the United team bus was seen outside their hotel by mid-afternoon.

Of course this is not the first time that the Red Devils have encountered some unexpected travel complications.
In April last year their game against Spurs was delayed by 30 minutes because of traffic on the road.
Then a month later the final game at the old Boleyn ground started 45 minutes behind schedule after West Ham fans blocked the bus' path to the ground.
