Newcastle want to sign Luke Shaw and Danny Ings in January spending spree following breakthrough in takeover talks

NEWCASTLE want to sign Luke Shaw and Danny Ings in January, according to reports.

Amanda Staveley has edged closer to taking over the Toon and it is understood Rafa Benitez will now be given a transfer kitty of around £30million next month.

And he is eyeing loan deals for Manchester United's Shaw and Liverpool striker Ings, according to the Daily Star.

A keeper and No10 are also priorities for Benitez.

Benitez will reportedly be assured of his January funds in the next 48 hours.

Staveley's PCP Capital Partners will not be in charge for the upcoming transfer window as a deal is yet to be formally agreed or signed off by the Premier League.

But successful negotiations at a London curry house - which has seen Staveley up her offer to slightly more than Ashley's £300m demands - mean Benitez will be handed a transfer war chest.

It is understood that Sports Direct tycoon Ashley will fund any business in January on the condition he is reimbursed once the takeover is complete.

The Magpies are just one point above the relegation zone and last night's defeat to Everton means they have gone eight matches without a win.

Benitez on Tuesday admitted he is awaiting confirmation regarding funds to bring in new players.

And last night he said: "I don't have any information. As I said the other day, I need to know how much money we will have for January as soon as possible, that's it.

"But I don't have information about the takeover."

Shaw, 22, made his first Premier League appearance of the season against Bournemouth yesterday.

The England left-back, who joined United in a £31m deal in June 2014, has struggled with injury and fell out of favour with Jose Mourinho.

Striker Ings, 25, made his Liverpool return in Sunday's Merseyside derby having not played in the league since May 2016.
