Danny Rose prepares for rare Tottenham start against APOEL with future in balance amid Manchester United interest
England full-back wants to start every game with the World Cup rapidly approaching but he is being rotated by the boss
DANNY ROSE is set for another Champions League start as he tries to win over Mauricio Pochettino again – or jump ship for Manchester United.
The England defender appeared destined for Old Trafford after an exclusive SunSport interview when he criticised the club’s ambition and transfer activity.
But Spurs refused to sell the left-back in the summer – having already cashed in on £52million Man City flyer Kyle Walker – but could cut their losses in January.
Rose returned from knee ligament injury in September but has just started just two Premier League games this season.
The defender was axed from the entire squad for the North London derby defeat to Arsenal on November 18 but started the win over Dortmund days later.
He was an unused sub for the 1-1 draw with Watford at the weekend but wrapped up warm for training ahead of the Wednesday night clash with APOEL where he looks set to start.
With the Russia World Cup just months away, Rose needs to be first-choice for all competitions. And he admitted he was raging after the Arsenal snub.
He said: “My reaction was I was fuming, I was angry. But understanding at the same time.
THREESY DOES IT Ross Barkley, Manuel Lanzini and Richarlison the three January signings that will turn Spurs around
“The manager just explained that he thought it’d be better for me to do a hard session on Saturday, which I did. I did that.
“Me and the manager have not fallen out, not had an argument.
“I was angry about not being involved in the squad, but at the same time, I understand and I respect his views.”
But the unsettled England star sounds like he will be forcing his way out of the club if Tottenham do not match his ambition and win a trophy this season.

He said: “I’ve said in most interviews I’ve done this season that I want to contribute to Tottenham winning something this season. Nothing’s changed.
“Everyone just needs to understand that me and the manager want the same thing for this season - we want to win something.
“So I’m on the same page, I’m fully focused on playing as many games as I can for Tottenham, contributing to something beautiful, successful this season.
“And again, there’s been no bust-up, no falling-out, and I’m on the same page as the coaching staff.”
