WAYNE ROONEY netted a stunning strike from inside his own half as part of a throwback hat-trick - and his first ever for Everton - to down former boss David Moyes.

New Goodison manager Sam Allardyce sat in the stands as Rooney unleashed a 66th-minute bullet after latching on to a sloppy pass from Joe Hart to produce just the latest addition to his extensive highlight reel.

The strike was utter perfection and not even Angelo Ogbonna could stop it with his arm outstretched above his head.

But it was in the 17th minute that Rooney finally gave interim coach David Unsworth something to smile about in his last game in charge.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was caught by Hart - even though it looked like the Three Lions keeper got a touch on the ball.

Referee Michael Oliver was not fussed though, pointing to the spot.

Rooney went low and left with the penalty and Hart saved well, but the ball bounced up kindly on the rebound for Rooney to head in.

Some 11 minutes later Rooney benefited from some West Ham defending that is sure to leave Moyes with nightmares.

Rooney, 32, ghosted in from behind Cheikhou Kouyate to prod home.

Moyes would have been hoping for some respite with Manuel Lanzini's penalty in the 59th minute but Jordan Pickford saved well.

And it was eight minutes after that that Rooney polished off his first hat-trick in all competitions since the three he scored against Club Brugge in the Champions League in August 2015.

Ashley Williams completed the rout in the 78th minute after heading in Gylfi Sigurdsson's corner.
