Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marouane Fellaini miss Manchester United train down to Watford

United duo set to miss  tonight's match at Vicarage Road after they were not part of the squad that travelled down to London. Daley Blind and Jesse Lingard recalled to the group for clash with Hornets

MAROUANE FELLAINI and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will both miss Manchester United's trip to Watford tonight.

United boss Jose Mourinho was expected to ring the changes to his starting line-up with one eye on this weekend's clash with Arsenal.

But neither Fellaini or Mkhitaryan will be involved at Vicarage Road after they failed to take the train down to Hertfordshire with the rest of the side.

But Mourinho has recalled three players to his matchday squad who he left out of his plans for last weekend's 1-0 win over Brighton.

Jesse Lingard, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian all reported for duty this morning as the team left Stockport station to make the 90 minute journey to Watford.

The fact Mkhitaryan is not even involved today will raise more questions over his long-term future at Old Trafford after a season when he has been struggling for form.

Manchester United 1-0 Brighton: Red Devils come out on top in big test from battling Seagulls

The Armenian only returned to Mourinho's squad last week after being axed, but the United boss is understood to be unhappy with his contribution to the team.

The 28-year-old came on in the win over Brighton, so the fact he has missed out again could be a sign he may be on his way out of the club in January.

Former club Borussia Dortmund are said to be interested in taking him back to the Bundesliga 18 months after they sold him to United for £30million.

Fellaini's absence is also a surprise, given that he came on against the Seagulls and didn't look to have suffered any injury.

The Belgian has been a regular part of Mourinho's plans this season, either  from the start or on the bench.

But there are still doubts over his long-term future at United with Fellaini so far failing to agree a new contract to replace the existing one which runs out in June.

Mourinho last week admitted he fears the 30-year-old will leave on a free transfer, with French giants Paris Saint-Germain now interested in him.

Also missing the Watford game is defender Luke Shaw, who has been involved in the squad over recent weeks but who is still waiting for his first league action of the season.
