Manchester City land £10million Amazon Prime deal for behind-scenes TV series

'Groundbreaking' show will follow club through current season and is scheduled for release next year

MANCHESTER CITY have landed a £10million Amazon Prime deal for a "groundbreaking" new TV show following the club through this campaign.

The multi-episode series is due to be aired next year and will be shown in more than 200 countries.

Following Pep Guardiola's club through their day-to-day workings, it will also highlight the work done in the City Football Academy and, if so inclined, allow people to see executive meetings take place.

It is the latest innovation by forward-thinking City - who recently announced record revenues.

The tunnel camera has proved popular - even if it has unintended consequences.

One example came courtesy of City's record goalscorer Sergio Aguero and Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny following the Etihad side's 3-1 win last Sunday.

In a twist on the shirt-swapping tradition, the opponents whipped off their shorts and handed those to each other instead.

And a Daily Mail article recently claimed that City are "making up in modernity for what they lack in trophies and history".

The 360-degree tunnel cam is one innovation, as well as a move into eSports.

And their Facebook page has grown in number of likes by an enormous 287 per cent in three seasons - dwarfing that of rival sides.

City have also become the first club to have more than one million subscribers on YouTube.

But speaking of the Amazon deal, City CEO Ferran Soriano said: "We are delighted to begin this strategic relationship with Amazon, one of the world's leading companies.

"This is an extremely exciting time for Manchester City and through Amazon’s world-class service, we will be able to share it with football fans all over the world."

The series will be similar to the Amazon original show 'All or Nothing,' where fans got a unique insight into NFL side Arizona Cardinals.

Viewers were treated to behind the scenes footage, gaining an unprecedented inside look at the lives of the players and coaches on and off the field.

It won't be the first time British football fans have seen a TV programme involving a Premier League side, after 'Being: Liverpool' was aired back in 2012.

Raheem Sterling was on the wrong end of a Brendan Rodgers rant, while the current Celtic boss also famously showed his players three envelopes, containing three men who would let him down that season.
