Jose Mourinho makes Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos Manchester United’s No1 priority next summer
Zinedine Zidane considers German's role alongside Luka Modric and Casemiro vital in centre of park at Bernabeu
JOSE MOURINHO has made Toni Kroos Manchester United's No1 priority next summer, according to reports.
The German midfielder has won everything in the game, and is one of the most technically gifted ball-players current active.
Kroos is a fundamental piece of Zinedine Zidane's team alongside Luka Modric and Casemiro in the middle of the park.
Calciomercato report Mourinho is aware it will be difficult to prise the former Bayern Munich man away from the Bernabeu, but the United boss will still look to sign him.
Kroos, 27, has been uncharacteristically poor in recent weeks — along with Modric, giving the ball away a combined total of 40 times during the shock 2-1 loss against Girona.
And the German suffered an equally dismal showing as Real Madrid lost at Tottenham.
However, he remains a key player for Zidane and the Frenchman will be looking at Kroos to help turn around the European champions' recent slump.
Mourinho is keen to add more quality to the centre of the park.

One of the main issues at Old Trafford is a player who can link the defence to the attack.
Kroos has been included in the German squad to face England in an upcoming friendly.
