Newcastle United edge closer to takeover as Amanda Staveley and PCP Partners prepare £300million bid for the club

NEWCASTLE UNITED have edged ever closer to their impending takeover as Amanda Staveley and PCP Partners prepare a £300million bid.

Staveley has claimed she wants the deal done by December in order to offer transfer funds to Rafa Benitez in January.

Mike Ashley had said earlier this month he also wanted a deal done quickly... but for around £380m.

The group have been in discussions with Ashley after signing non-disclosure agreement forms.

Now, reports out of the Middle East are suggesting a deal will be done quickly in order to give Benitez the funding he was deprived of in the summer.

According to the National, Staveley is hoping to run Newcastle under a similar model used by money-bags Manchester City.

The businesswoman was famously involved in the 2008 deal to buy City, with Staveley saying that experience is proving to be invaluable.

She claimed: “The experience I gained has been instrumental in preparing me for the investment I wish to make now in the same league.”

Staveley is one of the country's leading deal-makers and has brokered some of the biggest business buy-outs in recent years.

PCP is backed by £28billion in funds from the Middle East and China and is looking to move into the riches of the top flight in England.

It is now suggested that Newcastle's potential new owners will offer Benitez around £300m in the January transfer window.

Overall, the Spanish boss can be expected to see £500m made available to him in the two upcoming windows, according to the report.

The PCP group had previously been interested in staging a buyout at Anfield, but found owners the Fenway Sports Group unwilling to do business.

So they have switched their attention to St James' Park, with Ashley now a more than willing seller.
