Bournemouth vs Chelsea: Nathan Ake insists he has no regrets swapping the champions for struggling south coast side
Ace swapped Stamford Bridge for the Vitality Stadium in shock big-money move last summer due to first-team opportunities
NATHAN AKE insists he has no regrets after swapping champions Chelsea for blundering Bournemouth.
The centre-back looked to have a bright future at Stamford Bridge after being recalled from the Cherries midway through last season.
Antonio Conte handed Ake a number of chances in a Blues shirt, including a start against Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
But that didn’t stop the Netherlands international from deciding to call time on his Stamford Bridge adventure when a big-money offer arrived from Eddie Howe.
Unfortunately for Ake though, things haven’t gone exactly to plan upon his return to the south coast, with Bournemouth second-bottom with just two wins in nine games.
But the ace is happy with his decision to pursue regular action elsewhere, and is also confident Bournemouth will start to climb the table with a few more wins under their belt.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s visit to the Vitality Stadium tomorrow, Ake told the Evening Standard: “I have no regrets, no way. I am still 100 per cent happy with my decision.
“It is still early in the season. We didn’t start the season well, but the quality of our football is coming back, we are scoring good goals. The defending is getting better too.

“It’s just about picking up more points and we will do that with the quality we have in the squad.
“When I returned from loan I thought I’d get more chances to play. I had a few games but I want to have that feeling of playing every week. It’s what I need at my age.”
