West Brom ace Craig Dawson out for two months with knee injury dealing Tony Pulis huge blow

Scans reveal the defenders injury isn't as bad as originally feared but West Brom will face the next two months with Dawson on the sidelines

CRAIG DAWSON is expected to be out for two months after suffering a knee injury.

The defender was forced off late in the game on Saturday as Southampton beat the Baggies 1-0 at St. Mary's, leaving Tony Pulis down to ten men.

The Daily Mail report the 27-year-old's injury news is better than the Albion medical team first thought and he has avoided the need for surgery.

There were concerns he may have suffered cruciate knee ligament damage when he heavily collided with teammate Allan Nyom in the Premier League clash.

The club's director of performance, Mark Gillett said: "The injury gave Craig a serious thigh muscle bleed and a torn knee capsule.

"It's a serious injury but we are heartened that it's already showing improvement and surgery is not required."

Dawson has been a versatile option for Pulis this season, operating at right-back and centre-half and starting in all 11 of West Brom's games so far.

The Baggies injury concerns extend to skipper Jonny Evans too, who also left the field prematurely on Saturday after falling on his shoulder.

With both defenders out, Pulis will have no option but to go with a back four of Nyom, Gareth McAuley, Ahmed Hegazi and Kieran Gibbs.
