Everton latest news: Back to work for Ronald Koeman as he arrives for Blues training early doors after night out

Under-pressure manager was back at Finch Farm before sunrise, despite enjoying a night in Manchester with Pep Guardiola, as Toffees try and resurrect their season

RONALD KOEMAN and his Everton flops returned to training at the crack of dawn on Monday as the the Dutchman desperately clings to his job.

The pressure intensified on the Toffees boss after yesterday's thrashing at home to Arsenal sent the Merseysiders into the drop zone.

Despite the 5-2 defeat against the Gunners at Goodison, that did not stop Koeman from hitting Manchester last night.

The 54-year-old met up with friends for a bite to eat at up-market Italian restaurant San Carlo in the city centre.

And he was joined by Manchester City manager and his former Barcelona team-mate Pep Guardiola.

Despite admitting his future was uncertain, Koeman's spirits seemed to be lifted by his catch-up.

Although, whether it was the worry over his job or that he had a late one last night, the ex-Southampton chief look more than a little tired as he entered the Finch Farm training complex before sunrise.

But he's not the only one who appeared to have a sleepless night.

Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who has been one of the few bright stars in Everton's poor campaign, let out a yawn as he made his way in.

Koeman will be looking for the elder members of his squad to step-up to the plate.

Wayne Rooney did his best against Arsenal, opening the scoring with a terrific finish to roll back the years, but he was powerless to stop his side from slipping to defeat.

However, he was amongst the first to arrive for training as he was chauffeured into work.

Wales captain Ashley Williams - who was hauled off at half time on Sunday - and Blues skipper Phil Jagielka were also up and at it early doors.

The Toffees go to Chelsea on Wednesday in the League Cup looking to resurrect their season.

Then they face a trip to Leicester City next Sunday in desperate need of three points.
