Andrey Arshavin facing divorce after just one year of marriage over an alleged affair
Gunners hero is still playing in FC Kairat in Kazakhstan but has been accused of playing away by his stunning wife
Arsenal hero Andrey Arshavin is facing divorce after just one year of marriage over an alleged affair.
The former Gunners playmaker is still playing for FC Kairat in Kazakhstan and married wife Alisa in September 2016.
Mrs Arshavin insisted it was her decision to ditch for former Arsenal man, despite gossip in their home country spreading that he terminated the relationship.
The 35-year-old told Russian magazine Starhit: “Him cheating was only one of the reasons that pushed me to make such decision.
“Why would the entire country think that he would leave me with three children?
“Do they think I am a completely unappreciated woman?
“I have an acquaintance that got re-married after having four kids.”
Mrs Arshavin said she had been forced to end the marriage for the sake of her work and family life.
She said: "Adult people do not fight. Adult people make decisions and leave.
"I did not leave him for someone else, this I would like to stress from the very beginning.”
The couple have a baby daughter, Esenya, who was born in February. Their split has sparked an online debate on Russia's celebrity gossip columns.
