Manchester United news: Red Devils legend Paul Scholes holds talks with Oldham to become their new boss
PAUL SCHOLES is reportedly in talks with Oldham Athletic to become their new manager.
The Manchester United legend was interviewed for the position of boss at the struggling Latics yesterday at an undisclosed location, according to reports.
And according to the to the Daily Mail, he is now favourite for the job at the team he supported as a child.
Oldham have been without a manager since John Sheridan was sacked on September 25.
They have declined to comment on reports of the meeting with Scholes.
The ex-England international lives in Oldham and is a regular at their home games when he is not watching United or Salford - the team he part-owns with Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, Gary Neville and his brother Phil.
He had a taste of coaching the squad last season when he was brought in to run a training session.
SunSport reported yesterday how John Terry's brother Paul had emerged as a contender for the position.
But caretaker boss Richie Wellens, another former Old Trafford player, is the second favourite for the role.
Wellens has said eh will be off to seek out his first manager's job if Oldham do not give him the role full-time.

But the unbeaten temp, who has phoned his old gaffer Alex Ferguson for advice, could be persuaded to stay as assistant.
Wellens, 37, said: "I think I'm ready for the job.
"But if I don't get the job, I will have to look somewhere else."
