Lauren pinpoints three reasons why Arsenal won’t win the Premier League this term
Gunners' Invincible details just how and why his former manager has been forced to change his strategy
LAUREN was an Invincible - a member of the Arsenal team that were unbeaten in landing the Premier League title in 2003-04.
He has the greatest respect for Arsene Wenger, whose vision and managerial skill set up that landmark season.
But that year turned out to be the last time Arsenal won the title.
And Lauren doesn't see Wenger lifting the trophy again any time soon, certainly not this season.
The man who won two Premier Leagues and three FA Cups playing for Wenger insists there are three reasons why it simply won't happen:
1 The French boss doesn't have those seven or eight players fighting for him.
2 There are so many teams looking to win the league - five or six of them.
3 Something is missing in the dressing room.
Arsenal Transfer Stories
Lauren, who thinks Wenger's move away from focusing on his team's strengths, rather than worry about the opposition, is a major part of the reason Arsenal are no longer title contenders.
And he told the Mirror Football podcast: "[Wenger] doesn't have those seven or eight players who are fighting for him.
"The second factor is that there are so many teams looking to win the league - five or six of them.
"And the third factor is that - with all my respect - we miss something in the dressing room.
"We miss something that drives teams to win and challenge for the Premier League - some leadership from inside.
"Nowadays, people are not fighting for the solution, they are not fighting for the flag, fighting for the whole institution.
"I'm talking about people in general, not just Arsenal. People are more selfish and looking more for individual success, rather then whole club."
The current strategy, of course, is a world away from when the Arsenal squad went through a whole season without losing a game.
He added: "That was a marvellous achievement. It was unbelievable, I will stay there forever.
"Wenger saw the potential of that generation. He believed we could do it, but none of us thought about going unbeaten.
"In the dressing room, we were just trying to win the next game and improve in training.

"This is the key. If you are in a team just thinking about the end of the season, you cannot achieve your goals.
"We wanted to improve every single game - that’s why we managed to do it."
