Arsenal fans fear Bayern Munich’s drubbing against Paris Saint-Germain could spell the end of their Europa League campaign
The Bundesliga giants lost 3-0 to the Ligue 1 side in the Champions League on Wednesday and could face the Gunners yet again in Europe this season
BAYERN MUNICH'S heavy defeat against Paris Saint-Germain has left Arsenal fans fearing another mauling at the hands of the Germans.
The Bundesliga side suffered a 3-0 loss in their Champions League clash against Unai Emery's men as the possibility of dropping into the Europa League becomes a possibility.
Arsene Wenger's side - playing in Europe's second-tier competition for the first time since the 1999/2000 season - have faced Bayern repeatedly over the last four years.
The Gunners were knocked out on away goals in the Round of 16 in the 2012/13 campaign, before suffering a 3-1 aggregate loss a season later in the same stage.
In the 2015/16 season the two sides were pitted against each other in the group stages, with Munich inflicting a 5-1 mauling at the Allianz Arena.
And last campaign they were yet again matched up against each other in the Round of 16, with the Arsenal humiliated in both the home and away legs - losing 5-1 in each fixture.
So with the FA Cup champions not competing in the Champions League this year after finishing in fifth place in the Premier League, fans were dreaming of competing in the latter stages of a European competition.
But in a bizarre twist of fate, Bayern could finish in third place in Group B, opening the doors for another mouth-watering match-up.
