Thibaut Courtois fears England will remember Diego Costa the ‘the little bully‘ and not the nice and funny striker
THIBAUT COURTOIS fears Diego Costa will be remembered in English football as a “little bully” rather than a top-quality striker.
Chelsea No 1 Courtois is preparing for Wednesday’s Champions League return to Atletico Madrid, the club where he spent three successful years on loan.
Costa has rejoined Atletico for £60million after grabbing 58 goals in 120 appearances for Chelsea, although he cannot play until January because of the Spanish side’s transfer embargo.
Courtois, whose team won 4-0 at Stoke on Saturday, said: “I have been with the guy for six years and he is a very good friend of mine.
“Diego was under-rated in England. People put too much attention on him being a little bully on the field rather than looking at his quality.
“He is one of the nicest, funniest guys I know.”
Someone who did recognise his ability was Everton boss Ronald Koeman.
Reports in Spain claim Costa snubbed a £66.4m summer move to Goodison.

Yet while Costa will enjoy a hero’s welcome at Atletico’s new Wanda Metropolitano stadium, Courtois admits it will not be the same for Morata.
The former Real Madrid striker has already scored six times for Chelsea following his hat-trick at Stoke.
Courtois added: “It will be special to go back, only this time I hope we win.
“It will be different from going to the Vicente Calderon but they needed a new stadium.
"It will be a nice evening for me and I will be very hungry and focused on getting three points.
“Alvaro will get a different reception to me. He played a lot against Atletico.
"He scored — but not against me! It will be a big game against his old rivals.
“We know Alvaro is a top striker and I am very happy for him that he scored a hat-trick.
"It felt good for him but also for all the team.”
The summer transfer window was one the craziest we have ever seen.
