West Brom boss Tony Pulis admits mistake revealing Jake Livermore was ‘mentally tired’ last week
Livermore then took to social media to explain he was taking time off to rest his body after featuring for England and returning early for pre-season training
WEST Brom boss Tony Pulis admits he was wrong to reveal Jake Livermore was ‘mentally tired’ last week.
Pulis says he should have explained away the player’s absence against West Ham as a hamstring injury.
But Pulis says the England midfielder is set to return against Arsenal on Monday night - and says he made the wrong choice of words.
Pulis’ comment sparked fears of depression from a player who has suffered from personal problems in the past.
Livermore turned to cocaine as he tried to cope with the loss of his newborn son.
He tested positive for the drug in April 2015, but was spared a ban by the FA who took on board Livermore’s mitigating circumstances.
But Pulis moved to calm any off-field concerns about the player.
The Albion manager said: “Jake’ll be okay.
