Mauricio Pochettino claims Tottenham are too big to focus on Carabao Cup even though they have not won a thing for nearly a decade

MAURICIO POCHETTINO claims Tottenham are too big to focus on the Carabao Cup.

Spurs host Barnsley in the third round at Wembley with their boss Poch still searching for his first trophy since taking charge of the North Londoners nearly three and a half years ago.

He led them to the final of this competition in his first season in charge when they lost to Chelsea 2-0.

But he insists it is not high on his list of priorities this time.

He said: “No because the pressure is to win the Premier League or Champions League.

“They are the two big trophies.

“I'd love to win a cup for our fans but Tottenham must build a project for the Premier League and Champions League.

“If we forget those two, it's a big mistake.

For a big team like us to win trophies, it means the Premier League or Champions League.

“Wigan won the FA Cup. Where are Wigan now? League One.

“That is the most important example I can give.”
