Ex-Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti wants Premier League return next summer if Bayern Munich activate break clause in his deal

FORMER Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti will look to return to the Premier League if Bayern Munich trigger a break clause in his three-year deal next summer, according to reports.

The Italian succeeded Pep Guardiola at the Bavarians last year and guided the club to a fifth successive Bundesliga title in his first campaign in charge.

But he could only manage to take them into the last-eight of the Champions League, leading to pressure from supporters and the club hierarchy.

And ESPN claim that if he loses his job at the end of this season then Ancelotti, 58, wants a return to England's top-flight.

The report claims that he is happy at Bayern and remains committed to the German giants despite speculation.

Highly-rated 30-year-old Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmann has been linked as his replacement.

And he poured further flames on the fire at the weekend by saying: "Bayern has always played a prominent role in my dreams."

A break clause was inserted into Ancelotti's deal when he joined Bayern that means his contract can be ended after the second year.

And if they fail to challenge for European honours again the five-time Champions League winners may decide to bring in a new man.

Ancelotti won the Premier League and FA Cup during his first season in charge at Chelsea in 2010.

But they could only finish second the following year and he was sacked by the Blues immediately after their final game of the season.
