Stoke midfielder Giannelli Imbula set to join Ligue 1 side Toulouse on loan after Monaco deal falls through

Midfielder has flopped at the bet365 stadium following his big money move from Porto last February

STOKE CITY flop Giannelli Imbula could be on his way out on loan to Toulouse.

Potters boss Mark Hughes was seen to have pulled off a coup by landing the Belgian from Porto for £18million last February.

Despite scoring in just his second game in England, the midfielder has failed to make the impact hoped and Stoke are now ready to cut their losses.

Imbula has made just 23 appearances for the Potters and has struggled to fill the midfield hole left by Steven N’Zonzi when he switched to Sevilla six months earlier.

The arrival of Darren Fletcher on a free from West Brom has seen Imbula fall even further down the pecking order with no real prospect of game time this season.

SFR Sport in France reports Toulouse are in talks with the Premier League side about a season-long loan deal for the 24-year-old in need of kick-starting his career.

Ligue 1 champions Monaco had shown some initial interest in the former Marseille man.

Meanwhile, Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph could join Stoke after struggling for game time under Pep Guardiola.

The England international is set to replace Imbula once his loan move away has been finalised.

Bojan Krkic is another player on the move with a return to Spain on-loan at Alaves.

Hughes looked like giving Bojan a chance this campaign following a spell at Mainz in Germany.

Bojan – who has also played for Ajax, Roma and AC Milan – started on the opening day of the season but has not played in the Premier League since.

He has three years left on his current Stoke deal but could look to leave permanently at the end of his loan if chances are limited.
