Newcastle forward Siem de Jong re-signs for Dutch giants Ajax after horror stint in England
Six-cap Holland international made just 22 league appearances for the Toon since joining the North East giants in 2014
NEWCASTLE forward Siem de Jong has re-signed for Dutch giants Ajax after a horror stint in England.
The six-cap Holland international, 28, made just 22 league appearances for the Toon since joining the North East giants in 2014.
But now he has re-joined the club he originally left to join Newcastle as he bids to get his career back on track.
De Jong struggled mightily with injuries during his time in the North East.
The Dutchman suffered a collapsed lung, multiple muscle problems and a freak eye injury which he feared would leave him BLIND.
But now fully fit and looking ahead to the new season, De Jong would have hoped to have made an impression back in the Premier League under Rafa Benitez.
Earlier this summer, a fan posted a gif of Family Guy’s Peter Griffin falling down the stairs with the caption: “Siem de Jong walking back into Newcastle’s training ground for pre-season.”
De Jong retweeted it and added laughing emojis, to show he clearly sees the funny side these days.

The Toon midfielder, who spent last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, smiled: “My friends are also always sending me those kind of pictures.
“They joke about it and I can joke about it, too.
“But if you look at the injuries, then they were quite serious at the time.”
