Leeds in talks with Crystal Palace as they chase Jordon Mutch signing before transfer window closes next week
Winger Mutch out of favour at Selhurst Park and Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen hoping to secure cut-price deal in the next week
LEEDS are in talks with Crystal Palace about a deal to sign winger Jordon Mutch.
The Championship club have targeted the out of favour Palace star as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion this season.
They are hoping to persuade Palace to accept a cut-price deal of around £2million for the 25-year-old, who still has two years left on his contract at Selhurst Park.
Mutch has found himself out of favour under new manager Frank de Boer and is struggling to find his way into the first team squad.
So Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen is hoping to persuade the Premier League club to let him leave on the cheap before the end of the transfer window next week.
The Yorkshire club see Mutch as the ideal type of player who has proven to be effective in the Championship over his career.
But Palace have been holding out for more money for the player they signed in a £4.7m deal from Queens Park Rangers 18 months ago.
Leeds would prefer to get a deal sorted over the next week - but have also indicated they would be willing to settle on a season-long loan deal if all else fails.

Yet they would insist on having an option to make the transfer permanent next summer before they would agree to a temporary move.
Leeds have started the season well under new boss Christiansen, and are unbeaten in their first four games.
But they know having lost striker Chris Wood to Burnley last week that they need to bring in more attacking players to bolster the squad.
They see Mutch as an ideal player to sign - someone who has spent much of the last few years in the Premier League with Palace, QPR and Cardiff.
