Ex-Manchester United stars Dimitar Berbatov and Wes Brown to join Indian side Kerala Blasters
The Blasters' new boss Rene Meulensteen is already well acquainted with the pair after working with them during his coaching stint at United
FORMER Manchester United stars Wes Brown and Dimitar Berbatov are reportedly set to move to Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters.
They will be welcomed to India by the familiar face of Rene Meulensteen, who looks to have secured his two former players.
Brown and Berbatov's rumoured move to last season's league runners up comes on the back of a tweet by sports broadcaster Jim White.
The English defender's switch was seemingly confirmed when he tweeted out his excitement over his new challenge shortly after the club announced his arrival on their Twitter account.
Meulensteen spent six years as first team coach at Manchester United from 2007 to 2013, helping to guide Sir Alex Ferguson's team to three Premier League titles in that time.
Brown was coming to the end of his 14 seasons at Old Trafford during the Dutch coach's stint at the club, where they spent four seasons together.
Brown joined United aged just 12 and made 362 senior appearances for the Red Devils before moving to Sunderland for five seasons.
The 37-year-old spent last term with Blackburn Rovers but only made five appearances and ran out the rest of his contract training at Macclesfield Town.
LATEST MANCHESTER UNITED NEWS
While Brown's move to India has been confirmed, Bulgarian legend Berbatov's has not, though it is expected he will be reunited with his ex-Manchester team and coach.
The 36-year-old striker spent last season with the Greek side PAOK but left in 2016 eyeing a return to England's top-tier.
Despite 94 total Premier League goals during spells with United, Tottenham and Fulham, the veteran forward's hope to return was quashed after talks with Sunderland fell through.
If Berbatov is to follow his ex-United colleagues to India, the trio look set to make their debut season together in the league's fourth year of existence.
