Arsenal 1 Sevilla 2: Alexandre Lacazette scores first Emirates goal as Gunners win Emirates Cup on goals scored after Steven N’Zonzi’s worldie
Club-record signing Alexandre Lazazette scored to equalise for his side in the second half to cancel out Joaquin Correa's opener
ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE scored his first goal at the Emirates as Arsenal won the Emirates Cup despite losing a game more than Sevilla.
Bizarrely, Sevilla were not crowned as champions despite two victories, as they scored fewer goals than the North London club, with a point awarded for each goal.
You could say Steven N'Zonzi should have been awarded all the points in the world for his breathtaking second-half strike.
And another from Joaquin Correa left Arsenal with more questions than answers.
The only real positive was a first goal at the Emirates for record signing Lacazette, but overall it was not the result or performance Arsene Wenger had in mind days before the season opener at home to Leicester City.
The Gunners started brightly as Laurent Koscielny rose the highest from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's corner, but his header was straight at keeper David Sonia.
Minutes later the home defence was cut open by a clever pass from Ever Banega to send Wissam Ben Yedder through on goal, but the post saved Arsenal.
Contract rebel Oxalde-Chamberlain was in the unfamiliar role of left wing-back - but was not afraid of getting to the by-line and crossing with his weaker foot, and put in a great cross for Hector Bellerin who somehow skied his shot from six yards.

More problems came for the Gunners defence when Sevilla midfielder Daniel Carrico was left unmarked from a corner, but his tame header went wide.
The arrival of Lacazette means it is a massive season for Danny Welbeck.
The forward burst through on 30 minutes but his reluctance unlike the Ox to have a go with his weaker foot left the home fans frustrated as his poor shot hit the side netting.
Aaron Ramsey went close when he bundled his way into the box, but his curling shot was too high and wide.
Nolito nearly stunned the North London crown on his quick return to England - the former Manchester City winger tried his luck with a long-range volley that had Peter Cech scrambling.
The breakthrough came right at the start of the second half when the Arsenal defence fell asleep as Ben Yedder combined with Joaquin Correa who slid the ball past the onrushing Cech for the opener.
Lacazette got his first in London after a clever touch from Ramsey but his first time shot was straight at Soria.
He made up for it moments later when the Ox raided down the right and Welbeck's scuffed shot fell to the French striker for his first of what should be plenty of goals in front of the Gunners faithful.
The goal came at just the right time as Arsene Wenger's side started to struggle as the visitors took control of midfield lead by the towering and stylish Steven N'Zonzi.
The French midfielder restored the Spanish side's lead with a stunning strike on 70 minutes.
Out of nothing with his weaker left foot and under no pressure, N'Zonzi stroked the ball into the top corner from a loose throw in.
Cech could only watch as the ball sailed in over his head.
