Ivan Perisic to be offered new deal by Inter Milan to ward off interest from Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho
United unwilling to match £48million for Croatian striker so may turn their attention to RB Leipzig's Emil Forsberg instead
MANCHESTER UNITED target Ivan Perisic looks ready to sign a new deal with Inter Milan.
It seems United are not willing to match Inter's £48million asking price.
So instead the Red Devils could switch their interest to RB Leipzig's attacking midfielder Emil Forsberg, reports The Metro.
Croatian international Perisic has been a target for Jose Mourinho all summer, with negotiations said to stretch back to March.
Earlier this week Inter head coach Luciano Spalletti admitted the club are prepared to find a replacement for him.
But Football Italia says that several proposals have been rejected already with Spalletti now confirming “the right offer hasn’t come in yet”.
And, according to Mediaset Premium, Inter are not convinced United will raise their bid - or include Anthony Martial in any exchange deal.
Mourinho’s chief transfer negotiator Ed Woodward is only prepared to pay around £40m.

So if Inter hold out for an offer closer to £50m Perisic will stay.
To that effect the Serie A giants are drawing up a contract extension to reassure the 28-year-old of his place as a star in the team.

Perisic arrived from Wolfsburg in 2015 and his current deal runs to June 2020.
Last season he netted 11 goals in 42 appearances.
Swedish ace Forsberg, meanwhile, would likely command a similar price tag to Perisic given that he scored or assisted 27 goals in the Bundesliga last season.
