Hornets chase former Monaco star Abdennour as boss Marco Silva looks to continue squad overhaul at Vicarage Road
WATFORD have targeted Valencia defender Aymen Abdennour as boss Marco Silva continues his squad overhaul at Vicarage Road.
Silva has wasted no time making his mark on the squad he inherited over the summer having already brought in three new players.
And now he is looking to strengthen his defensive options by attempting to bring in Valencia centre-back Abdennour.
The Tunisian international has gained a reputation for being a no-nonsense player during his career in La Liga and France.
And according to Sky Sports, Hornets boss Silva is keen to add him to his list of new signings since taking charge of the club.
Silva has been busy in the transfer market since swapping relegated Hull for Vicarage Road as he tries improve his options at Vicarage Road.
He splashed out £7million to sign Derby's England under-21 international midfielder Will Hughes last month.
Hughes was followed to the club by his under-21 team-mate Nathaniel Chalobah, who quit Chelsea in search of regular first team football in a £5m move.

Spanish full-back Kiko Femenia has arrived on a free transfer from Alaves, and the club are also hoping to bring in Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs.
The Gunners have rejected a £10m bid for Gibbs, but Silva is expected to return with an improved offer for the England left-back.
Abdennour, 27, is highly regarded across Europe and made a big impression when he helped Monaco reach the Champions Leaguer quarter-final two years ago.
He was snapped up by Valencia after they sold Nicolas Otamendi to Manchester City and has adapted well to La Liga.
Now Silva is understood to want the centre-back to come into his squad to help improve a defence that shipped too many goals last season.
