The midfielder wants to sign a new long term contract at Old Trafford
JUAN MATA is keen to get his Manchester United future thrashed out with his current deal due to expire next summer.
The Spanish star is represented by his father and is keen to sign a new long term contract at Old Trafford.
But United are relaxed about the situation and are in no rush to meet them.
They know they have him for another 12 months and also have the option to extend his stay by a further year until 2019.
The 29-year-old joined United for a club record fee of £37.1million in January 2014 from Chelsea.
The midfielder started at Real Madrid before making his name at Valencia.
Mata currently earns around £170,000 per week and has been a popular figure during his three-and-a-half years at United.
His future was in doubt when Jose Mourinho - the man who sold him at Chelsea - took charge but he got plenty of chances last season.

Meanwhile Sergio Romero got a hefty pay hike with the new contract he signed last week.
The Argentine will earn around £80,000 per week - a £20,000 per week rise on his previous terms - with appearance bonuses on top.
The Reds pre-season tour is also well underway as they have already faced LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake and Manchester City.
They will play five more games including Real Madrid twice along with Barcelona, Valerenga IF and UC Sampdoria before returning back to the UK and back to business in the Premier League.
