Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford builds muscle and grows three centimetres as Jose Mourinho reveals young star is developing at quick rate
Red Devils striker is clearly looking to provide Romelu Lukaku with a challenge after gaining strength over summer
JOSE MOURINHO claims Marcus Rashford has grown an impressive amount since last summer.
The Manchester United youngster is only 19 and still has plenty of years ahead as he looks to develop into one of the world’s best strikers.
But it’s the speed of Rashford’s growth which is impressing Mourinho, who has just spent £75million on powerful forward Romelu Lukaku.
The Special One revealed: “Rashford is already taller than when I arrived 13 months ago. He’s three centimetres taller and he put some muscle on.”
Mourinho has always been a big fan of strong and tall players, building his success at Chelsea on the backs of stars including Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and John Terry.
The Portuguese tactician kept the trend going when he brought Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly to Old Trafford last year.
And Mourinho intends to keep developing his squad as he looks to land lanky midfield warrior Nemanja Matic.
Highly-rated centre-back Victor Lindelof has already arrived to shore up the defence.
Manchester United transfer news
While Ivan Perisic remains a top target to help create goals from the wings.
But Rashford remains firmly in Mourinho’s starting XI plans, with his versatility playing a big role.
The England international started as a striker for United but saw his role change to that of a support man from out wide in the last term.
