Adnan Januzaj takes swipe at Manchester United by thanking ‘some of the coaches and staff’ as he leaves for Real Sociedad

The former United prospect pens farewell to the fans, but takes a cheeky dig at his former club in the process

REAL SOCIEDAD'S new signing Adnan Januzaj has taken to Twitter to thank 'some of the coaches and staff' at Old Trafford.

The Belgium internal failed to cement a position in the starting line-up with The Red's, despite once being labelled as the clubs hottest prospect.

The Belgian struggled to feature under the management of Jose Mourinho, resulting in a five-year transfer to the La Liga.

It is not clear who the youngster was targeting with this post, but Januzaj has evidently left Old Trafford with mixed reviews about the club.

Januzaj posted on Twitter: "Thank you to SOME of the coaches that work at Manchester United to make it such a great club."

His early promise at the club did not materialise, resulting in two loan spells at Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland over the past two seasons.

The hot prospect burst onto the scene during the 2013/14 season under the management of David Moyes.

Both the club and the new manager were struggling following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson - resulting in a shaky first campaign.

Januzaj still had a year left on his contract at Old Trafford after signing a five-year extension in 2003.

He endured a substandard loan spell at Borussia Dortmund in 2015-16, which ended prematurely due to a lack of game time.

Last term he was on loan at Sunderland, where he made 25 league appearances before The Black Cat's suffered relegation.

The talented 22-year-old will be hoping to revitalise his promising career with the Spanish side, who finished sixth in La Liga last year.
