Man City set to seal Dani Alves signing this week as Spurs plot late hijack and Chelsea also remain interested

MANCHESTER CITY are confident of signing Dani Alves this week — despite a late Spurs hijack.

The Brazilian full-back is due to finalise the legal side of his exit from Juventus on Tuesday.

And Tottenham have tried to take advantage of the delay by launching a late bid.

Boss Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing a new right-back as he prepares to lose Kyle Walker to CITY.

England star Walker is keen to move — even though the two clubs remain apart in their valuation, with Spurs wanting £50million.

Alves, 34, has set his heart on a reunion with his former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola.

A two-year deal is all agreed and the free transfer should be announced once all the red tape has been sorted.

Chelsea had also shown an interest but the Brazilian dropped a big hint last week Guardiola would be a main factor.

City’s boss hopes his former favourite will be one of three new full-backs on the plane when they depart for a tour of North America on July 17.

Alves is reportedly willing to earn £1.7million-a-year less to join Man City than what Chelsea offered him.

According to the Goal report, the West London club were ready to offer Alves, 34, around £6.1m-a-year.

But the Brazilian has taken City's offer of £4.3m instead to move to the Etihad.

Alves spent eight years at Barcelona with the first four being under Guardiola.

The ex-Sevilla star then moved to Italian giants Juve last summer where he helped them to a league and cup double and the Champions League final.

But after requesting to have his contract cut short, he looks certain to be heading to the Premier League.

Speaking on a visit back to Brazil, Alves said: “Leaving Juve on a free transfer? I don’t know what’s happening.

“Have I asked to leave? I’ve left the work to my agents, and they’ve said they’d talk to me once they found a resolution.

“If I go, it’ll be without any conflicts, without any problems, as opposed to what’s being said.

“City my next team? Well, everyone knows my admiration for Pep Guardiola.”
