Yaya Sanogo set to resurrect football career with Toulouse after Arsenal release

The 24-year-old flopped during his time at the Gunners, making just 20 appearances in four injury-hit years

ARSENAL flop Yaya Sanogo could have found himself a new club.

The striker, who made just 20 appearances in four injury-hit years with the Gunners, is close to signing for French side Toulouse.

But he failed to score a Premier League goal for Arsenal, but did open his account in a crucial Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund.

And now it seems Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse are prepared to take a chance on the 24-year-old, according to respected French newspaper L'Equipe.

They are desperate to reinforce their forward line after being rocked by the news star striker Martin Braithwaite wants to leave the club.

And Sanogo, who had loan spells at Crystal Palace, Ajax and Charlton Athletic during his time at the Emirates, appears he could fit the bill - as well as prove a cheap option.

Sanogo was released this summer by the Gunners alongside Academy players Stefan O’Connor, Kristopher da Graca and Kostas Pileas.

In a statement posted on Arsenal’s website, it read: “Yaya Sanogo and academy players Stefan O’Connor, Kristopher da Graca and Kostas Pileas will leave us at the end of their contracts this summer.

“Yaya made 20 competitive appearances for us, including a key role off the bench in 2014 Emirates FA Cup final as we lifted the trophy in his debut season.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Yaya, Stefan, Kristopher and Kostas and wish them all the best for the future.”
