ARSENAL are close to a club-record £44million deal to sign Alexandre Lacazette.

Reports in France claim Arsene Wenger has agreed to meet the French club's asking price.

And a transfer will be confirmed by both clubs next week, with one more meeting set to take place to finalise the switch.

Lacazette has long been linked with a move to north London but was widely expected to join Atletico Madrid this summer.

However, their transfer ban opened the door for Arsenal to pounce as Wenger looks to mount a title bid next season.

And RMC claims the Gunners have agreed to pay Lyon's asking price of £44m, which would make Lacazette their most expensive signing ever.

It's said that another meeting has been pencilled in for next week where the transfer is expected to be finalised.

Lacazette himself is yet to accept Arsenal's terms though, although he is open to an Emirates move.

But with the futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez up in the air, the Gunners are ready to break the bank after already securing Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer.
