EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR has taken his first steps into management ... after being appointed a TRIBAL CHIEF.

The former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham striker received the unusual tribute in his native Togo earlier this week.

National team captain Adebayor was pictured wearing tribal robes after being honoured by Togbui Ehon V, the chief of Kpalime.

The 33-year-old was recognised for his humanitarian work in the west African nation.  He has pledged to support 90 children for a year.

Adebayor joined Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir in January following a brief spell with Crystal Palace.

The SuperLig underdogs have defied all logic by getting into the places for next season's Champions League qualifiers and Adebayor could be firing back in Europe's top competition once again.

The Lome-born frontman is currently on a ten-day fundraising tour around his home country.
