Tottenham have gone 3,284 days without winning a trophy – exceeding the time Arsenal went without silverware from 2005 to 2014

TOTTENHAM continue to be in Arsenal's shadow after a damming statistic reveals how long their supporters have been waiting for a trophy.

Spurs have gone 3,284 days without a trophy - which exceeds the amount of time their North London rivals had to wait for silverware from 2005-2014.

The Gooners ended that run with victory in the 2014 FA Cup, when they beat Hull 3-2 after extra-time.

Before that the wait had gone all the way back to 2005 and their last trophy celebration which came when Arsene Wenger's side beat Manchester United 5-4 on penalties to lift the FA Cup.

And this stat shows that despire Arsenal's poor form of late, which has seen them lose three of their last four games - fans have something to shout about over their arch rivals.

The last trophy Tottenham lifted was the League Cup in 2008 against Chelsea.

Didier Drogba put Avram Grant's Blues ahead with a free-kick but Dimitar Berbatov struck to take the game to extra time - where Jonathan Woodgate scored the winner.

Meaning Juande Ramos is the last manager to guide the club to a trophy.

But the Spaniard was sacked the following season after leading Tottenham to their worst start of a league season in the club's history.

Despite the bragging rights being in Arsenal's favour on this occasion, Spurs are currently ahead of them in the Premier League by goal difference.

But both north London clubs are struggling in Europe - with Arsenal being humiliated 5-1 by Bayern Munich.

Whilst Tottenham suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to the hands of Gent in the Europa League - after crashing out at the group stages of the Champions League.

Spurs could still overturn their deficit in Europe and they are also in FA Cup, with a fifth round tie against Fulham to play on Sunday afternoon.

But Mauricio Pochettino's men look unlikely to catch up with Premier League leaders Chelsea, as they trail the Blues by ten points.
