Spanish legend Xavi says Tottenham star Dele Alli reminds him of Paul Gascoigne

SPANISH legend Xavis has paid Tottenham star Dele Alli the highest praise possible - by comparing him to his idol Paul Gascoigne.
Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi grew up as one of Gascoigne's biggest fans and he sees plenty of his genius in England prospect Alli.
The Spurs midfielder is aiming to blow a huge hole in Manchester City's title hopes today on the back of a run of form that has seen him score seven goals in his last five league games.

And Xavi is in no doubt the 20-year-old can match reach the same standards as ex-Tottenham hero Gazza by becoming one of Europe's best players.
Xavi said: "There are some very promising young English midfield players and there is no doubt he is very special.
"He is very talented, very technical. I can understand why the Tottenham fans are hoping he is the next Paul Gascoigne.
For me, Gascoigne was an inspiration when I was developing, one of the best midfield players I have ever seen.
"It is important not to put pressure on Dele with these comparisons but I can see why fans are excited.
"For him to be at the very top level he needs to consistently play well and put in big performances against the big clubs both in England and in Europe.
"He has the capabilities to be able to do just that."
Gascoigne played arguably the best football of his career while he was at Tottenham, before he moved to Italy for a three-year spell with Lazio.
Despite having his career blighted by injuries and discipline problems, he is still regarded as one of the best players England has ever produced.
