Rashford’s extraordinary emergence has seen him included in the list, while Alli — who won the PFA Young Player of the Year award last season — is also on the list of nominees.

Arsenal's Alex Iwobi, Manchester City pair Leroy Sane and Kelechi Iheanacho, Leicester’s Demarai Gray and Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek received nominations — as did new Liverpool signing, Marko Grujic.

Celtic's Moussa Dembele is the only nominee for the Scottish Premier League.

However, Kingsley Coman and Renato Sanches are the early favourites — while AC Milan's Gianluigi Donnarumma, Anderlecht's Youti Tielemans and Gabriel Barbosa are other notables.

The award is the equivalent of the Ballon d'Or for players under the age of 21.
